January 18.

Day 18.  3 gifts from God’s word:
1 Peter 5:6-10
“Humble yourselves therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.  Cast all your anxiety upon him because he cares for you.
Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are facing the same kind of sufferings.
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, while himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”

Zephaniah 3:17
“The Lord your God is with you,
he is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.”

Psalm 34

1 I will extol the LORD at all times;
   his praise will always be on my lips.
2 I will glory in the LORD;
   let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 Glorify the LORD with me;
   let us exalt his name together.

 4 I sought the LORD, and he answered me;
   he delivered me from all my fears.
5 Those who look to him are radiant;
   their faces are never covered with shame.
6 This poor man called, and the LORD heard him;
   he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him,
   and he delivers them.

 8 Taste and see that the LORD is good;
   blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the LORD, you his holy people,
   for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
   but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me;
   I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
12 Whoever of you loves life
   and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
   and your lips from telling lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
   seek peace and pursue it.

 15 The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous,
   and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 but the face of the LORD is against those who do evil,
   to blot out their name from the earth.

 17 The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them;
   he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted
   and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

 19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
   but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 he protects all his bones,
   not one of them will be broken.

 21 Evil will slay the wicked;
   the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 The LORD will rescue his servants;
   no one who takes refuge in him will be condemned.

this is me being real.

  1. Psalm 34:17-19 is hard to believe at the moment… But I know that God is good and His Word is true, so I will choose to believe Him even though I don't see it right now. Thanks for posting this.

  2. I have often been baffled when I've cried out to Abba and felt like my prayers weren't heard, like I wasn't delivered from whatever I was trying to escape, but later on, after, I've been given the grace to see that His timing is perfect and that if he'd delivered me when I asked, begged, I would have missed out on so many lessons I needed to learn. Trust is so hard, isn't it? God has allowed me to wander in the desert for many months now learning trust and other lessons. And I have held this verse and others in front of me as a beacon of hope when my hope was depleted.
    I will continue to pray for you as you walk whatever hard road you are walking. Deliverance is promised. God's mercies are new each morning.
